Wherefore Art Thou, Tistafer?

Ben took this video a little over a year ago, at the very end of March 2009. We'd had a long day. We had been to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and had then stopped off at Fair Oaks Farm on the way back to Indy. When we got back to town, we made a quick stop to drop off an un-grilled cheese sandwich (made with Fair Oaks' amazing aged cheddar) to our friend Cathy and to meet baby Sam, who was just a few days old. We kept the visit short, since we were worn out from our long day and Cathy and Eric were worn out from having a newborn. But Bryn (then age 3) and Christopher had apparently just gotten in to some game or another, and our exhausted child was absolutely distraught when we made her leave her beloved "Tistafer" to go home.

This video captured what happened after we got home. Ben got her into her princess pajamas, and then Bryn dragged her little chair over to her window and stared forlornly out into the night, longing for her friend. It was very reminiscent of the balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet, and I swear I wouldn't have been surprised to hear her sigh, "Tistafer, Tistafer, wherefore art thou, Tistafer?"

Oh. My. Goodness. That is hysterical! I think it stems from a some time prior (when we had been visiting, our last gamenight before Sam), Bryn had gone upstairs to get her ready for bed, and stood in the yellow room window watching us leave...for a while, because Chris had a bad pukey episode. I believe she may have said, "Wherefore art though, Tistafer?"
